Natasha: Shuri, I understand the hell you’re going through. Violence has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. All manner of violence. The clash of armies and the political ideologies… all the way down to the knife in the dark. Living in that life tends to warp your thinking so that killing becomes a natural go-to solution for everything. It’s easy… and it gets easier, and therein lies the real danger.
Shuri: Wolverine… Logan… talked to me about this. About the addictive nature of bloodlust. And I get it, I do understand… but I made a judgement call based on restraint, on compassion… and because of it Klaw got away. It’s like the universe is trying to convince me that killing is the only clear path for me to walk. I’m afraid I’m going to lose myself in it. That the person I want to be will be subsumed and only the killer will remain.
Natasha: I know I don’t look much older than you, Shuri… but believe me… I’ve been around for a long, long time. Long enough to see every weapon of destruction ever built. Long enough to see nations fall and millions die. And do you know what secret I’ve discovered? Of all weapons ever made, the most powerful by far is compassion. But you have to have compassion for yourself before you can have it for anyone else.

One more for the “intriguing relationship teases” file. Holy expository dialogue, Batman, but yes yes yes I love it when Natasha’s compassion is described as a weapon, and when her confidence is revealed as the root of her strengths.

Marvel announced a pair of surprise projects during today’s Cup O’ Joe panel. The first is a new wave of Point One issues, slated to begin hitting stores in November. While the new installments of the initiative will remain to be designed to be extra-accesible to new readers, they will also sow the seeds for the publisher’s next major crossover event.

Amongst characters that don’t have a book right now in this poster are Iron Fist, Hawkeye, Cyclops, Luke Cage, Reed Richards, and Black Widow. It seems likely that they’re all representing a team book, instead of solo projects, but Brevoort did recently say that Hawkeye was going to be headlining a series tba.
